Bishop Joseph C. Coles, Jr. was elected the 37th bishop of the Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church in 1974. He served as the Presiding Prelate of the 6th District, comprising the state of Georgia and the island of Jamaica, for 20 years. Prior to his election as bishop, he served as pastor of churches in South Boston, VA, Cleveland, OH and New York City, NY. Bishop Coles retired in 1994 and died in 1995. |
